Confederation Bridge Three Time Montgomerey Award Winner Award Winning Projects

In recognition of ground breaking engineering ingenuity demonstrating the scope and diversity of Canada's engineering profession, the Confederation Bridge, led by SCI, was named one of the five most significant engineering achievements of the 20th century by National Engineering Week 1999.

The rigorous selection process was jointly conducted by a group of the Nation's most prestigious engineering organizations. The executive committee that made the selection includes representatives of the Canadian Council of Professional Engineers, the Canadian Academy of Engineering, the Engineering Institute of Canada, the Association of Consulting Engineers of Canada, the National Council of Deans of Engineering and Applied Science, and the Canadian Federation of Engineering Students.

Along with Confederation Bridge, the Pacemaker, the Canadarm, the IMAX system and the Transcontinental Railway Rogers Pass Tunnel were also distinguished as being among Canada's five most notable engineering Achievements of the Century.

Three time winner of the Canadian Construction Association's prestigious Montgomery Memorial Award for Excellence and Innovation, the people of SCI  have been recognized for devising unique construction engineering solutions for

• Vancouver's Cambie Street Bridge
• The 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics Speed Skating Oval and
• The 13 kilometer Confederation Bridge, a solution declared "ingenious" by the project's Independent Engineer.

From the early days of initiating design-build alternate solutions for the City of Calgary to the present, employees have been acknowledged as innovators in the conception and implementation of value-engineered design-build and leaders in the construction industry.
