Crystal Reports v8.0

Error message when trying to view reports through the web browser
"Seagate Software AciveX Viewer is unable to create it's resource objects. To rectify this problem, please install IE4.0 or install DCOM for Windows 95 and latest Microsoft scripting engine. These files are available in Microsoft website."
Solution:
To remove the Report Viewer for ActiveX from the client computer:

1. Open up the browser and navigate under the "View" drop-down menu to "Internet Options" (Internet Explorer 4.X) or "Tools | Internet Options" (Internet Explorer 5).

2. In the "General" tab click on the "Settings" button.

3. Click on the "View Objects" button. Under "View Objects" there will be a "Crystal Smart Viewer" control.

4. Right-click on the control and choose "Remove". Close the browser and then reopen it.

The next time a report is called the ActiveX Viewer will be downloaded again.

(Note: If Crystal Reports is installed on the client computer the control will not appear under "View Objects". To remove the ActiveX Viewer from a computer that has Crystal Reports installed on it please unregister the following files using Regsrv32.exe from the Start | Run dialogue box: Crviewer.dll, Swebrs.dll and Sviewhlp.dll, reboot the computer, and then re-call the report into the browser.)

If you continue to encounter issues installing the Report Viewer ActiveX on to the client computer it is possible to manually install this component.

1. Download the ActiveXViewer from the web server computer that has the Web Component Server installed to it. Enter the following URL command into the browser address line:

http://<servername>/viewer/activexviewer/activexviewer.cab

This command will download the .cab file. Save this file to the client computer's hard disk.

2. Open the file with WinZip and extract the contents to a directory. Now, right-click on the Crviewer.inf file and select "Install". A reboot of the computer may be needed.

This will manually install the Report Viewer for ActiveX on to the client computer. Open the browser again and request a report from the Web Component Server.

If after attempting the above solution you still receive the same error, copy all the files extracted from the activexviewer.cab file into C:\WINNT\System32 and register the files Crviewer.dll, Swebrs.dll and Sviewhlp.dll.

< regsrv32 C:\WINNT\System32\crviewer.dll >

Reboot the computer and you should now be able to view the reports.
